Wireless Consumers Eager for New Technologies, Still desire Service and Price [Survey]

In a recent survey of 3,000 mobile customers from around the world by Oracle, titled  “Opportunity calling: The future of mobile communications”, consumers see limitless potential in mobile technology, envision replacing Credit Cards, car Keys and personal computers with mobile phones

The survey further shows:

Is Netflix Killing Cable TV?

I am usually good at predicting the potential for most technologies in the market, but I just didn’t see this one coming so early.  An alarming survey by Credit Suisse on 250 Netflix subscribers shows about 37% of Netflix subscribers aged 25 to 34 have canceled their pay-TV services in favor of Netflix’s streaming service. I finally had a chance to review the new report called “The Employment and Economic Impacts of Net Neutrality Regulation: An Empirical Analysis,” over the weekend. The report made me to think that perhaps the ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia last month in favor of Comcast against “net neutrality” was a good thing 😦

The study was  conducted by economist Coleman Bazelon at The Brattle Group and sponsored by Mobile Future, a lobbying group of businesses and non-profit organizations that advocates for an environment and encourages innovation in wireless technology and services. It warns that as many as 1.5 million jobs could be lost by the end of the decade if the FCC implements the Net-neutrality.

It Is All About Content Baby

Yahoo must have had a great success with their three years old move into original sports News.  They are mirroring the same move again using Awesome Washington DC as their base. To stay competitive with other News content providers, Yahoo has launched a news bureau in D.C., staffing it with several journalists from prominent media outlets.

Among those hired are Politico media writer Michael Calderone; Jane Sasseen, the former Washington bureau chief of BusinessWeek; and Anna Robertson, an Emmy-winning news producer from ABC’s “Good Morning America,” in addition to journalists from Washingtonpost.com and other publications.

It is pretty interesting how the old search companies are getting into content. AOL has also been investing heavily on content business since they hired their new CEO from Google, Tim Armstrong, read more…
