Awesome App to Track and Share Your Fitness Activities

The app from a start-up company called Skimble offers a web and mobile experience designed for the fitness enthusiast who wants to thoroughly track and share their sports, gym or outdoorsy activities. The app is currently for iPhone. I think they will be releasing their app  and Android version soon.

It’s indeed such an awesome app and a must have for anyone wanting to break out of the couch and TV lifestyle.  Perfect for runners. It tracks how far you run, compares to previous runs and calories burned.

Skimble’s app taps into the iPhone GPS that let’s you to set your workout and activity trip location and share geotagged “action shots.” Skimble’s activity tracking tool focuses on helping you create a calendar and schedule of your activities, and will chart out your performance based upon time spent on the activity. You can also compare your progress to a friend’s. Read more of this post

Google Voice Got Faster

Google just launched an update for their native Andorid and BlackBerry apps that eliminates one extra step. Result: A much faster phone call connection.

Those of you have been using Google Voice on a regular basis, you may have experienced  a lag  especially when trying to make a call. Google is getting rid of that lag.

That works well enough when you have a decent 3G or EDGE connection, but it can also lead to annoying timeouts and pauses when you don’t. The new version of the Voice applications fixes this by assigning a unique phone number called “direct access numbers” to your contacts.  Instead of making data requests from Google’s servers, Google Voice’s Android and BlackBerry apps assign such a number to every person that you call. This removes the extra step of making data requests. In other words, your outbound calls should be faster now. Read more of this post
